Lewes Transit Center services will start in early May

First phase includes park-and-ride options for motorists

The first phase of the new Lewes Transit Center on route 1 just south of Five Points is scheduled to open to motorists and buses Saturday, May 6, with bus service to Rehoboth Beach and Ocean City. Full daily resort transit service will start Monday, May 22. The Phase 1 park-and-ride includes spaces for 45 buses and 240 vehicles.

A visitor’s center and maintenance facility will be built in 2019. The cost of the project is $23 million, which includes $6.5 million to purchase the 6.5-acre parcel.
