Libraries ROCK! summer reading program begins June 11 at Rehoboth library

June 8, 2018

It's time for the Rehoboth Beach Public Library's annual Summer Reading Program. This year's theme will be Libraries ROCK! Each week will offer a variety of activities based around different musical genres, including doo-wop, rock ‘n’ roll, classical, rap/hip-hop, country, and jazz.

The fun begins with a Sock Hop at 11 a.m., Monday, June 11, and will conclude with an End of Summer Party at Grove Park at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 15. The library will host different children's performers once a week, such as musicians, magicians, a live reptile show, and more.

Other regular activities will include: Monday Movie Nights for the whole family, Karaoke for kids and teens on Wednesdays, #ThrowbackThursdays with retro video games for all ages, and showings of newly released films on Friday. Preschool and toddler Story Times will continue Thursdays and Fridays.

Children, teens, and adults can register for Summer Reading online at rehobothlibrary.beanstack.org, earning raffle tickets based on how much they read and the programs they attend at the library. Children who complete 10 hours of reading will be invited to the End of Summer Party and receive additional prizes, including goodie bags, books, and certificates. Adults can try winning a different raffle prize each week based on the number of books they've read throughout the summer and the number of library services they use.

The Rehoboth Beach Public Library is located at 226 Rehoboth Ave. For more information call 302-227-8044 or email rehobothbeach.library@lib.de.us. All programs are free of charge.
