Local father and son author ‘Unstoppable’ football coaching guide

Smyrna football coaches Anthony and Michael Marks’ ebook, “Unstoppable,” is available now, just as high school football coaches throughout Delaware and beyond are sharpening their skills and grinding out game plans for the upcoming 2024 football season.

“Unstoppable: Integrating the Earthquake Package Into the Spread Offense” is a must-read guide for coaches looking to level up their game. It takes readers through the eight-year development of an offensive philosophy that has consistently allowed Smyrna High School to average 37 points per game while producing a winning percentage of .822 and four state championships.

The video e-book, which is loaded with diagrams, game and practice video clips, and detailed how-to segments, tells the entire story of an offense that married Smyrna’s spread attack with the old-school principles of the double-wing.

This philosophy is the brainchild of offensive coordinator and co-author Michael Marks, who began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at the University of Delaware during its 2003 national championship season. He has continued to coach for the past 20 years as an offensive coordinator for several high schools including Eastern Christian Academy and culminating at Smyrna High. Co-author and Lewes resident Anthony Marks has been in the high school football ranks for 45 years at various schools in upstate New York as both a defensive coordinator and head coach. Both authors are graduates of Ithaca College, where they stand together as one of the school’s only father-and-son examples of three-year varsity football letter winners.
