Markell and Schwartzkopf visit Shields Elementary School

June 25, 2016

It was a great day at Shields Elementary when both Gov. Jack Markell and Rep. Pete Schwartzkopf visited Shields Elementary May 25. Elected officials spent some time with Principal Jenny Nauman discussing education in general and all of the exciting initiatives in Cape Henlopen. They made a stop in the cafeteria to say hello to all of the students and then made their way into Maura Johnson's fourth grade classroom.

There the governor took some time to ask the students both math and social studies questions, and the students had an opportunity to ask him some questions as well. Then Markell and Schwartzkopf delivered a proclamation to Ms. Jenn Guido, third grade teacher, as she was awarded PBS Digital Innovator for Delaware. Finally, they finished their visit in the school office.
