Mediacom adds international TV channels

New choices for European and Asian TV entertainment and news
August 27, 2016

Mediacom Communications has announced that most of its customers have gained the ability to choose from as many as eight international channels that can be added to an individual cable subscription to provide current news and entertainment from a variety of European and Asian countries. The international channels will be available by the end of August and will include RAI International (Italian), RTL (German), Russian TV Network (Russian), Channel One (Russian), TV 5 Monde (French), The Filipino Channel (Filipino), TVK1 (Korean) and Saigon Broadcasting (Vietnamese).

Mediacom officials said they chose to offer the new selection of international channels to acknowledge growing diversity within communities where the company offers subscription television and broadband services. Mediacom has also recently expanded international calling plans to make them easier and more economical than ever. Customers can now choose the minutes between 200 and 250 a month, and WorldTalk is the same cost whether they call landline or mobile phones.

"We selected a range of channels to reflect and embrace the diversity in communities with Mediacom customers and employees," said Mediacom Senior Vice President Ed Pardini. "For many years we've offered a tier of Spanish-language channels, Canales Latinos, and now we've added more choices to watch sports, news and family entertainment that originates with leading television stations from around the world."

The new selection of international channels is offered on an a la carte basis ($9.99 per channel per month), available to customers with Local Plus TV or Family Cable TV subscriptions.
