Mediacom to offer PBS and PBS KIDS via On Demand

June 8, 2018

PBS and Mediacom Communications announced that Mediacom television customers will have access to PBS and PBS KIDS via Mediacom’s On Demand service beginning Tuesday, June 12.

On Demand offers instant access to thousands of the latest movie releases, TV shows and other programming, and now the choices will include recent episodes of popular PBS and PBS KIDS shows. Mediacom is adding the PBS programs to its On Demand menu in time for the new season of “The Great British Baking Show,” which premieres Friday, June 22; the exciting Masterpiece drama “Endeavour,” which premieres Sunday, June 24; and the Tuesday, July 10 start of PBS’ new series, “No Passport Required,” with Chef Marcus Samuelsson exploring America through the culture of food.

PBS On Demand also features full-length episodes of award-winning dramas, documentaries, history shows, and popular ongoing prime-time series, including “Masterpiece,” “Frontline,” “Antiques Roadshow,” “American Experience,” “Independent Lens,” “Nature,” “American Masters,” “Great Performances” and others. Viewers can watch these programs at their convenience within a designated window of availability.

PBS KIDS On Demand includes content from award-winning, trusted shows that provide proven educational benefits for children. Families can watch episodes from popular series such as “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood,” “Wild Kratts,” “Ready Jet Go!,” “Nature Cat,” “Odd Squad,” “Arthur,” “Dinosaur Train,” “Sesame Street,”  “Cyberchase” and “WordGirl.”

“PBS is well known for its high-quality television that entertains and informs, and we’re pleased that Mediacom subscribers can watch PBS and PBS KIDS programming on their own individual schedules,” said Ed Pardini, senior vice president for Mediacom. “On Demand is especially valuable for people who spend summer evenings outdoors and then later want to cool off and relax as they catch up on a missed episode or rewatch a favorite program.”

PBS and PBS KIDS On Demand are available at no additional cost to Mediacom digital television customers. Use of a digital receiver (cable box) provides automatic access to the On Demand channel where the program selection menu is displayed. Customers access the channel using the On Demand menu on their remote control or by selecting channel 1.

“PBS and local public television stations are eager to provide viewers multiple ways and platforms to choose our content where and when they want it,” said Ira Rubenstein, PBS chief digital and marketing officer. “We are pleased to be working with Mediacom to expand our efforts to bring our award-winning science, history, arts and drama programming to a larger audience and to provide even more options to families looking for our high-quality, educational children’s shows, whenever they wish to watch.”
