Milton 11-12 All-stars defeat Brandywine 19-3

Sets up winner-take-all for state title tonight

Milton used a seven-run second inning and poured on 10 more in the sixth to defeat Brandywine 19-3, setting up a winner-take-all state championship game at 7 p.m., Wednesday, July 27 at Newark National. 

Milton amassed 16 hits in the contest, while their pitching only allowed three by Brandywine. Southpaw Tyler Husbands threw 3.2 innings, striking out six Brandywine batters.

Husbands, Nick Cox and Austin Rhue each had three hits in the game.

Milton plays Brandywine again tonight for the winner-take-all game for the Delaware state championship and a trip to the Eastern Regionals.

He won a photography award from the National Newspaper Association, and numerous awards from the Maryland, Delaware, D.C. Press Association. A Delaware native, Dan graduated from Cape in 1972 and returned as a teacher and coach in the 1980s. He retired from the classroom in 2016. He was inducted into Cape High’s Legends Stadium in 2016. In his spare time, Dan enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons, grandchildren and dogs.
