Milton Arts Guild classes kick off Dec. 1

Milton Arts Guild will conclude its 2023 classes with three selections for first-time artists. All sessions will meet at Studios on Walnut, 310 Walnut St., Milton. 

Joan Applebaum will teach a two-part introduction to holiday silk painting class from 1 to 4 p.m., Friday and Saturday, Dec. 1 and 2. Students will learn to paint a poinsettia on a 22-inch silk square that can be used as a scarf or a wall hanging. All materials will be supplied by the instructor. The cost for the two-day class is $140.

Barbara Nelson will teach weaving techniques in her woven snowflake ornament class set for 1 to 4 p.m., Monday, Dec. 4. Students will weave a 6-inch and a 12-inch snowflake that can be used as ornaments or door decorations. The class, including all supplies, costs $50.

Kathy Coyne will teach introduction to dot mandalas from 1 to 3 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 13. Students will learn about dotting tools, canvas prep, paint mixing and different types of marks that are traditionally used in dot mandala painting. Students can bring items for dotting, such as pencils with erasers, pins with different-sized round heads, paintbrush handles, or anything with a smooth, round tip. Additional tools will be available for use. The class costs $55.
