Milton Arts Guild to host watercolor workshop May 24, 25

April 30, 2017

Karen Frattali will lead Reflections in Glass, a two-day watercolor workshop for the Milton Arts Guild, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday, May 24 and 25, at the Broadkiln VFW in Milton. Attendees will learn to paint in vivid, transparent color creating luminous reflections in glass. Frattali is a signature member of the Baltimore Watercolor Society and Philadelphia Watercolor Society.

She will guide participants in glazing, the process of applying thin layers of paint to achieve rich, luminous complexity of color in the finished product. Attendees will learn the chemistry of pigments and how to use them successfully. "I like to emphasize the startup of a painting, using all the tools to get off on the right foot, avoiding frustrating mistakes and compositional problems. Correction in watercolor is also something I like to demonstrate. Most problems do have a solution," said Frattali.

The cost is $150 for guild members and $175 for nonmembers. To register, go to MiltonArtsGuild.org and search Happenings. Enrollment is limited. Registration is not complete until payment is received by Milton Arts Guild. The Broadkiln VFW is at 1000 Atlantic Ave., Milton.
