Milton backs the blue

Blue lines painted in show of support
August 21, 2017

Milton officials honored local law enforcement Aug. 2 by celebrating blue lines painted at the intersection of Federal, Front and Union streets.

Milton Councilman Emory West said he was watching television when he learned another town illustrated their support for police by painting blue lines along curbs and crosswalks. Milton officials then coordinated with state legislators and the Delaware Department of Transportation to do the same.

“I’m proud to say the police department of Milton has done a great job keeping us safe,” West said.

“We cannot do this alone,” said Milton Police Department Chief Robert Longo. “We need the support of our community.”

Milton Mayor Ted Kanakos said there was minimal cost involved with the project – a few dollars for a can of paint, and the man hours needed to paint the lines.
