Milton Garden Club to host plant sale May 29

May 25, 2021

After a year off because of the pandemic, the Milton Garden Club will hold its annual plant sale during the Horseshoe Crab and Shorebird Festival from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, May 29, in a tent on the sidewalk in front of the Milton Historical Society at 210 Union St.

There will be a variety of both shade- and sun-loving plants for sale. Special emphasis will be placed on pollinator plants. Some sun plants which will be available are Autumn Joy, black-eyed Susans, garden phlox, daylilies, sedums, coneflower, Shasta daisy, solidago, iris and obedient plant. For the first time, the club will have banana plants grown by one of the members. Some shade plants will be many varieties of hostas, several types of ferns including ostrich fern, lamium and coral bells. A limited number of herbs will be available.

For those who prefer container gardening, there will be a small number of porch/patio pots already planted with a mix of annuals and perennials, including a kitchen pot of five or six culinary herbs. A wagon filled with plants is a special container garden donated by a friend of the club. For six years, a wagon of plants has been donated to the Milton Garden Club as a special thank you for the work it does for the town.

The garden club will also be selling 50/50 raffle tickets for $1 each or six for $5. The winning ticket will be drawn during Hollyfest in December. All monies made during this sale will go toward planting the downtown gardens and planters in the garden club's quest to continue to beautify Milton.
