Milton resident Liz Hudson donates Lewes Christmas tree

November 15, 2017

Milton resident Liz Hudson has donated a 30-foot Norway spruce to the City of Lewes for its holiday Christmas tree display in Zwaanendael Park. The tree will be cut and delivered Monday, Nov. 27, and then decorated in advance of the 31st annual Merchants' Hospitality Night in the Historic Business District Thursday, Nov. 30.

Lou Papp, a commissioner on the city's Parks and Recreation Commission, has coordinated the inaugural project to have a fresh-cut tree installed in the park in coordination with the city's Street Department and the Lewes Board of Public Works. Hospitality Night kicks off the Christmas Weekend in Lewes that includes the Children's Beach House benefit and art sale Friday and Saturday, and on Saturday, Dec. 2, the Lewes Historical Society's Tour of Lewes from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the 86th annual Lewes Christmas parade kicking off at 5 p.m.

Shortly after the parade concludes, the lighting of the tree in Zwaanendael Park will begin and candlelight caroling led by Christy Taylor and singers. All are welcome to participate. The City of Lewes and the Lewes Chamber of Commerce jointly sponsor the parade and tree lighting activities. There are numerous other events taking place in association with the Christmas Weekend in Lewes which can be found on the chamber's website calendar at www.LewesChamber.com.
