Milton tagline project close to completion

Committee to narrow choices to three March 18
March 15, 2024

The Milton Economic Development Committee is close to completing its work on a new tagline and mark for the town after nearly a year of work.

The committee is set to meet at 5:30 p.m., Monday, March 18, at Milton library, where Chair Barry Goodinson said the plan is for contractor Hook PR to present six possible taglines. He said the committee will reduce that to three. Those three taglines will be focus group tested, Goodinson said, and that feedback will be brought back to Hook to develop into a mark that will be presented to town council for approval.

Goodinson said the process will take a few weeks to complete.

The $5,000 project is aimed at creating a shorthand way of telling people why they should come to Milton and to explain what is unique about the town. One of the models for what the committee is looking for is Berlin, Md., which uses the tagline, “Artistically Alive, Eternally Young.”

Lewes-based Hook PR was selected for the job after a call for proposals in early 2023. Hook conducted surveys of town residents and held in-person interviews as part of its work.
