Nest at Sussex Academy offers storage space, amenities

September 7, 2017

The final phase of construction is underway on The Nest at Sussex Academy, a nearly 3,900-square-foot building with storage space for athletic equipment, accessible restrooms, an open pavilion area and a concession stand on Airport Road.

“We were fortunate to work with Sussex Academy again to enhance the educational experience the campus offers to its staff and students,” said Dwight Miller, president of Gillis Gilkerson, the company building the new facility. “We value the opportunity to grow our relationship with them as we help the school expand its offerings to meet the community’s needs.”

“While the very nature of construction projects can often put the interests of the owner and the general contractor at odds,” said Carlo Arjona of Becker & Frondorf, project manager, “our experiences with Gillis Gilkerson and its staff, at all levels, were testaments that these respective interests can still be fully met collaboratively, collegially and civilly for collective project success.”

In business for 34 years, Gillis Gilkerson offers experience in diverse industries such as medical, manufacturing, hotels and multi-family, houses of worship, retail and schools, officials say.
