Ocean Atlantic Sotheby's to expand to new flagship headquarters

November 21, 2017

After anchoring the corner of State Road and Rehoboth Avenue in downtown Rehoboth Beach for the past 15 years, Ocean Atlantic Sotheby's International Realty will be moving into its new headquarters building on Coastal Highway in early December. "When we first moved into our space on Rehoboth Avenue, we had 15 Realtors and five staff members on our team," said Justin Healy, broker at OASIR. "Our brokerage has grown now to include over 80 Realtors, and 15 professional staff members conducting over 600 real estate transactions each year. We realized we needed a more modern and efficient office with the latest technologies for our clients."

Also playing a role in the decision to move was the ownership of the downtown building. "In 2016, after extended negotiations, we sold our interest in the 330 Rehoboth Avenue building to our previous partners who have now developed other plans for the space. We knew the timing was right for us to move on to the next chapter for our brokerage," said Healy.

That next chapter involves custom office space in the newly constructed, state-of-the-art Ocean Atlantic flagship building at 18949 Coastal Highway in Rehoboth Beach. As of early December, the brokerage will occupy over 4,500 square feet of space in the building, which will feature drop-down large screens for property marketing meetings with clients, high-speed internet access with a cutting-edge fiber optic backbone, full interior/exterior security and surveillance system, and a single-platform, digital, web-enabled phone system. "We are thrilled to be able to offer our clients a professional, technologically savvy space which allows us to market, showcase and sell their properties to the widest possible audience of buyers," said Kathleen Schell, OASIR marketing director. "In addition, this new office gives us a central location to meet with buyers, sellers, and renters with easy highway access and parking."

In addition to its new Rehoboth headquarters, OASIR will maintain its current offices in downtown Lewes, Bethany Beach and inside The Peninsula Resort and Golf Club. "We have absolutely loved being an integral part of the business scene in downtown Rehoboth Beach," said Healy. "Our parking lot has been a staging area for Sea Witch festivals, the holiday parades, and site of the Beebe Hospital 100th Anniversary float build. We are so grateful to have had amazing relationships with our neighbors, including Heidi Lowe's Gallery and Dogfish Head Brewpub."

Healy and Schell also hinted at a possible new downtown Rehoboth Beach location coming soon. "It's never been our plan to leave downtown Rehoboth for the long term," said Schell. "In fact, we are actively looking at a few new location options at the moment." The team envisions a coastal-modern, boutique storefront in the near future to serve its in-town Rehoboth clients as well. "We are excited about the future and thankful for our team of professionals as we make this leap forward," said Healy. "We know it's the right move for us to give our clients full access to our wide range of real estate services in a new, state-of-the-art environment."
