One child injured in bus crash near Milton

An 11-year-old child was injured when a school bus overturned Sept. 9 west of Milton.
About 3 p.m., a 61-year-old woman was driving the bus on a moderate right curve westbound on Burton Road when the bus entered a soft, grassy roadside and began to spin. The bus sideswiped a tree and continued to turn before striking another tree. The bus hit a third tree before turning onto its left side.
There were eight children from Cape Henlopen School District on the bus at the time of the crash, and one child was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. The child was treated and released.
The operator of the bus was cited for inattentive driving and failure to drive at speeds appropriate for conditions.
The road was closed for about two hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
