Ousted Home of the Brave board member responds

December 29, 2023

On Dec. 22, I woke to an article in the Cape Gazette, "Executive director quits, board member out at Home of the Brave," in which it says Greg Fuller has now taken on the positions of board chair and interim executive director.

At a meeting Dec. 14, the remaining board removed me: "for incidents I did not report to board, I did not have the best interests of Home of the Brave.” Former Executive Director Heather Travitz resigned knowing Fuller targeted her with the intent of termination because she is a woman.

Let me go on the record and say that neither the incidents nor the claimed corruption and chaos in the article have been made public or documented. Yet again Dec. 22, Fuller made reference on the Dan Gaffney Show to issues and concerns which he contends with no backup or substance.

I have spent the last 15 years of my life working for our veterans, military, and children and youth in various organizations led by my passion and desire working for the Joint Staff and the Department of Homeland Security. I have seen our young military returning injured and battered, needing someone to champion them.

In this country, we still rely on principles that call for due process, and you are innocent until proven guilty. My concerns about Fuller were sent with documentation of his actions and the discriminatory behavior over the last few months.

I am most concerned about our veterans, not Fuller and whatever agenda he may have. Even though they have ousted me as a board member, they can't keep me from championing the veteran residents Home of the Brave serves, and the quality of life and service they fully deserve.

"Faith consists in believing when it is beyond reason to believe, and we are twice armed if we fight with faith." That's where I am today and will remain until the truth that has been hidden in the darkness prevails.
