Painting fundraiser for Alana Rose Foundation set Feb. 23
Painting with a Twist, an art and social studio in Lewes, will host a Painting with a Purpose charity event at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 23, to benefit The Alana Rose Foundation, which works to help relieve families from overwhelming medical, emotional and financial stress associated with the life-threatening illness of a child.
The studio will offer a three-hour class of a painting titled “Love Anchors the Soul.” No painting experience is needed, and the event will include complimentary wine, beer and light fare snacks. To sign up, go to www.paintingwithatwist.com/lewes/calendar.
Each month, franchisees from across the nation hold painting fundraisers through the Painting with a Purpose program to benefit local charities. For this event, 50 percent of the proceeds will be donated to The Alana Rose Foundation. To date, Painting with a Twist studios have raised more than $3.2 million for nonprofit organizations.
"We're honored to support The Alana Rose Foundation in their mission to provide financial assistance to help with travel, housing and/or living expenses for qualified families, making children happier and healthier by keeping their family together," says John Peterson, owner of Painting with a Twist, Lewes. The studio also offers private painting events for corporate team building, and customer and employee appreciation, as well as birthdays, bachelorettes, family reunions and other special occasions.
The Alana Rose Foundation organizers understand that, although they cannot provide a cure for these illnesses that bring heartache, they can support the families in compassionate and creative ways. They aim to provide opportunities for families and children to relax, laugh and be recognized for the special people they are. What began as a single family struggling to find a way to alleviate financial burdens to spend time with their daughter, grew quickly into a foundation committed to helping families remain together through hardship.
