November 28, 2016

Painting with a Twist art and social studio in Lewes will host a Painting with a Purpose charity event to benefit the First State Animal Center and SPCA at 6 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 1 .

The studio will offer a two-hour class of a painting titled “Winter Wonderland.” No painting experience is needed and the event will include complimentary wine and beer. To register, go to www.paintingwithatwist.com/lewes/calendar.

For this event, 50 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the First State Animal Center and SPCA. To date, Painting with a Twist studios have raised more than $2 million for nonprofit organizations. "We're honored to help First State Animal Center and SPCA raise funds and awareness for the welfare of Delaware's pets and the people who care for them," says John Peterson, owner of Painting with a Twist, Lewes.

The First State Animal Center and SPCA has  a long history of strong volunteer involvement. Their mission is twofold: to protect animals from people by prevention of cruelty and suffering, rescue of the trapped or injured, emergency medical treatment, temporary housing for homeless animals and the reduction of homeless pet overpopulation through targeted spay/neuter and education programs; and to protect people from animals through a serious commitment in placing only stable, safe and well-adjusted animals into homes where they will thrive, while simultaneously educating the public about responsible pet guardianship.
