Painting fundraiser for Little Grace Kids set Jan. 11

January 6, 2017

The GFWC Zwaanendael Women's Club of Lewes will host a fundraiser from 2 to 4 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 11, at Painting with a Twist, an art and social studio in Lewes. The fundraiser will benefit the Little Grace Kids Clothing Closet at Grace United Methodist Church in Georgetown. The studio will offer a two-hour class featuring a painting titled "Posh Poppies." There will be complimentary wine, munchies, a 50/50, door prizes and raffle. The studio is on Route 1 north across from Grotto Grand Slam, next to PNC bank.

Painting with a Twist will donate 50 percent of the proceeds to the kids’ clothing closet. "We're honored to help the GFWC Zwaanendael Women's Club in their mission to support our local community through volunteering their time and resources to those members of our community in need," says John Peterson, owner of Painting with a Twist, Lewes. In addition to supporting the local community, the studio also offers private painting events for corporate team building and employee appreciation, as well as birthdays, bachelorettes, family reunions and other special occasions.

The General Federation of Women's Clubs was founded in 1890 as an international women's organization dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service. In 1905, 30 women met to organize a Lewes chapter, and they called the club Zwaanendael, commemorating the town's Dutch settlement of the same name in 1631. The GFWC Zwaanendael Women's Club gives financial support annually to organizations in need.
