Peninsula Ladies Golf Association donates $12,500 to Beebe

September 19, 2023

The Peninsula Ladies Golf Association made a $12,500 donation Sept. 6 from proceeds from its third invitational tournament to the Beebe Medical Foundation to support the Beebe Mobile Health Clinic, which includes a large RV-type van.

The unit – an outreach of Beebe Population Health – was on site at The Peninsula from 8 to 11 a.m. providing screenings, referrals and making appointments. Since February, the unit has been at more than 50 events throughout Sussex County. With an emphasis on behavioral health, staff in the unit offer many services including health education and connecting people to the doctors and programs they need, said Kim Blanch, director of community outreach.

“With the unit, we are able to meet people where they are,” she said.

A Jack Nicklaus signature course, The Peninsula is known as the Peeble Beach of the East. The private course is located within the The Peninsula community on the shores of Indian River Bay near Long Neck.

This year’s tournament included 112 players from 21 different golf clubs, including Jupiter, Fla., said event chair Diane Karbonik. An anonymous couple from The Peninsula and Compass Realty were the major sponsors, with 34 hole sponsors and Freedom Boat Club as the drink sponsor.
