Plein Air Brandywine Valley event set Oct. 21-23 to benefit Children’s Beach House

October 16, 2016

Plein Air Brandywine Valley is a painting and photography competition, show and sale set Friday to Sunday, Oct. 21-23, featuring the beauty of the Brandywine Valley interpreted by the finest artists in the nation and beyond. A portion of sale proceeds will benefit the Children’s Beach House in Lewes, which assists children with special needs throughout Delaware.

For one week, artists will paint and photograph the most scenic properties of the Brandywine Valley and surrounding areas including private estates, land preserves and renowned du Pont properties. All works entered into the competition will be judged and then displayed for viewing and purchase at an opening dinner reception set for 7 to 10 p.m., Friday, Oct. 21, at The Visitor Center of Winterthur Museum and Garden in Wilmington. The works will remain on display for purchase and viewing from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 22 and Sunday, Oct. 23, free and open to the public.

The Children's Beach House is a Delaware-based 501c3 nonprofit organization that fulfills founder Lydia Chichester du Pont's vision to help children with special needs reach their highest potential as functioning members of their families and communities. Miss Lydia founded Children's Beach House in the early 1930s as a place where she could help children with special needs benefit from the same healing qualities she had derived from the coastal environment.
