Possum Point Players' 'Les Mis' includes stellar cast of 60

Tickets are now on sale for the Delmarva premiere of the international blockbuster musical, "Les Misérables!" This full Broadway version of the musical has only recently been released for licensing, and the Possum Point Players will be the first theatrical group in Delaware and the Delmarva Peninsula to bring the world’s longest-running musical sensation, winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Original Score, to the stage. With a book by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg, music by Claude-Michel Schönberg, and lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer, "Les Misérables" packs an emotional wallop that has thrilled audiences all over the world.

The production staff includes Kenney Workman of Milford, stage director; Rosanne Pack of Milford, assistant to the director; Donna de Kuyper of Lewes, assistant director; Melanie Bradley of Lewes, musical director; Liz Messick of Laurel, assistant musical director; and Aimee Voshell String, choreographer. They have chosen a cast of 60 local performers who are a mix of veterans and first-timers to bring this famous musical masterpiece to life.

Jean Valjean (played by Bob Frazier), a peasant who breaks his parole and starts his life anew, is relentlessly tracked down by Inspector Javert (played by Steve Givens). They are swept into a time of revolution, where a group of young idealists take a stand at the barricade.

"Les Misérables" is being performed on Sept. 20, 21, 22, 27, 28, 29 and Oct. 4, 5 and 6. Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m. Tickets are $23 for adults and $22 for students and seniors.
