Proof Boutique opens in The Brush Factory on Kings

August 19, 2017

For years, Beth and Maddie Millholland, a mother-daughter team, had been toying with the idea of opening their own boutique. They considered it to be a total dream job. In February 2017, their business was born online while they still were working at their regular full-time jobs. Now Proof Boutique has a permanent location at The Brush Factory on Kings at 830 Kings Highway in Lewes.

As avid shoppers themselves, Beth and Maddie realized that what they loved so much about shopping was the experience of getting to touch, feel and try on clothes and accessories. They still wanted the opportunity to create a beautiful space where people could find unique styles that were not already in every other store. They felt there was an untapped market in Lewes for the type of clothing Proof Boutique offers: trendy, stylish and unique.

It all started with a bike ride to Honey’s for breakfast. Maddie and her dad Bill noticed that the old gym along Kings Highway had been cleaned up and had a fresh coat of paint. When they saw the sign that said, "Vendors of the unique and unusual wanted," they decided to take a peek. As their faces were completely pressed up against the windows, the doors opened while the two people inside laughed hysterically. Realizing they looked a bit ridiculous, they introduced themselves to Christine and Mark Chura, owners of The Brush Factory, and the rest is history. It was the perfect setting, it was staffed so they could continue to work at their full-time jobs, and it was a place where they could display their inventory without having to be there in person. For now, this is the Milhollands' version of a dream come true.
