Rebecca Stinedurf, compassionate caregiver

January 10, 2017

Rebecca Stinedurf, 58, of Millsboro, passed away peacefully Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, at Beebe Healthcare, Lewes, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born to Florence June and James Franklin Berry March 2, 1958. She was their only child. She now joins her father in Heaven.

Rebecca was married to the love of her life, Martin Stinedurf, for 34 years before her passing. Rebecca became an instant mother to Michael Paul Stinedurf, age 5, upon her marriage. Michael was born with Down Syndrome, but Rebecca faced all the challenges and loved and raised him as her own.

On May 8, 1982, Rebecca gave birth to her and Martin’s only child, Melissa Anne.

Rebecca was an extraordinary wife, mother and grandmother. She had a loving, caring heart, and would always help anybody in need. She adored all of her grandchildren. She and her husband, Marty bought a home by the water near her family, where she often commented she was at peace.

She had a compassionate and caring spirit that she bestowed on a multitude of people through her work.

She worked at Harrison Senior Living in Georgetown as their activity director, bringing happiness and joy to those near the end of their lives. She recently had taken a position at the Delaware Veterans Home as their quality of life director. She was so proud. She said that she had reached the top of her career because she had an opportunity to help our veterans.

She will be dearly missed by her family and so many friends. She was the greatest of women. She loved her family unconditionally.

Rebecca is survived by her husband, Martin Stinedurf of Millsboro; her mother Florence June Berry of Georgetown; her son, Michael Paul; and her daughter Melissa Anne Priest and her son-in-law Joseph Priest of Millsboro. Also surviving are her five grandchildren, Brianna Fox-Priest of Mullica Hill, N.J., Kiersten Priest of Smyrna, Stephen Mock III of West Chester, Pa., Katelyn Mock, and James Priest of Millsboro.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 12, at Melson’s Long Neck Chapel, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro.
