Rehoboth Gingerbread Contest extends entry deadline until Nov. 13

October 17, 2017

The Rehoboth Beach Gingerbread Contest is coming to town Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 9 and 10, at Epworth United Methodist Church. The contest will include divisions for amateur and professional bakers, and a special division for nonprofit organizations. As the contest's name suggests, entries are not limited to houses. Originality and creativity are encouraged. Gingerbread kits are not permitted.

The Rehoboth Beach Gingerbread Contest welcomes the public and admission is free. Those wishing to enter the competition can find rules and entry forms at gingerbreadjoy.org. Spaces are limited. Entry forms must be received by Monday, Nov. 13. The total number of entries will determine how many will be accepted in each division.

The contest will raise funds to support those in need. Epworth UMC has been helping families at Christmas for decades. In 2012, outreach programs were expanded and now support the West Rehoboth Children & Youth Program, the work of the Cape Henlopen School District's Homeless Liaison and the Good Sam program at Epworth. What began as holiday help for families has become a year-round lifeline providing for personal needs such as eyeglasses, school supplies, diapers, transportation, scholarships for youth, and housing assistance.
