Rehoboth museum to present history of iconic business

March 15, 2024

The Rehoboth Beach Museum will welcome Donna Vassalotti at 5 p.m., Thursday, March 21, to recount the history of Snyder's Candy Store since its inception as a newsstand, ice cream shop and soda fountain.

Snyder's became the local teen hangout and bus stop starting in 1936. It has changed hands over the years, and Vassalotti will take attendees through the evolution of the business. They will also learn about earlier ice cream parlors in Rehoboth and hear a bit of ice cream history, along with some entertaining local tales.

This event will be held in the John N. & Jean K. Papajohn Lecture Hall at the Rehoboth Beach Museum, 511 Rehoboth Ave., Rehoboth Beach. Space is limited; reserve a seat early at rbmuseum.org.

The Rehoboth Beach Historical Society and Museum is dedicated to preserving and showcasing the history, culture, and unique character of Rehoboth Beach. The museum is now open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. Admission is by donation.
