Rehoboth selects City Hall landscaping plan

January 18, 2017

Rehoboth Beach officials have agreed on a template for a shady but open promenade from the new City Hall to Baltimore Avenue and Second Street.

The promenade is designed to have an open feel with benches and trees lining the walkway. An irrigation system and lighting are also planned.

Architect Mike Wigley presented the commissioners with several designs; the commissioners chose an open feel with some medium-sized along the walkway and larger trees on the sides between the Sandcastle Hotel and the Breakers Hotel to screen the buildings. Fencing will be maintained around the water tower.

The city’s architects, Davis, Bowen and Friedel, are set to take the next step of pricing out the project, which is planned as one of the last phases of the new City Hall, set to open in July.
