Reuse and recycle materials to benefit home gardens

Mary Louise Lauffer of Lewes shared some of the ways she recycles and reuses items to reduce waste.

Vegetable scraps and yard waste all go to use in her gardens, where cardboard and old newspapers act as weed barriers.

Cardboard egg cartons are great for starting seeds. Lauffer uses cardboard containers like oatmeal boxes for transplanting seedlings right into the garden soil where the cardboard will gradually decompose.
