Robert V. Boland Sr., veteran, man of faith
Robert “Bob” V. Boland Sr., 95, of Lewes, passed away Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023, at his home. He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Lena N. (Haak) Boland; his son, Robert Boland Jr. and wife Michelle; his daughter, Sandra Pilewski and husband Steve; his grandsons, Bryan Pilewski and fiancée Bonnie Radmore, and Kyle Pilewski.
When retired in 1993, Bob and Lee moved to Lewes, where he continued working part time at the local Super Fresh for several years in the produce department. Always strong in faith, he volunteered as an usher at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church in Lewes. Bob also belonged to the American Legion for over 56 years and joined Cape Henlopen Elks Club 2540, where he was awarded Elk of the Year, Citizen of the Year, and Elk Distinguished Citizen for his volunteer work in the community. Above all, Bob cherished time spent with those he held most dear. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and friend who will be genuinely missed by all who knew him.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 2, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes, where friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m. A committal service will follow at 1 p.m., at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro.
