Rose Lee Rickards, dedicated, hardworking woman

Rose Lee Rickards peacefully passed away Monday, April 8, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 18, 1943, in Elizabeth City, N.C., to the late James Holloway and Annie Marie Walston. 

Rose's life was marked by her unwavering commitment to providing for her family. She epitomized resilience and determination, often juggling multiple jobs to ensure the well-being of her loved ones. Her strong work ethic and selflessness left a definitive mark on all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Robert Walston; and her brother, Elton J. Sears.

She is survived by her children, Juanita Walston, Sandrae William Prileau and Wilmer Lee Turner, all of Milford, and Brenda Stratton of Dover. Rose will be dearly missed by her siblings, Diana Paruis, Diana Jean, Vivian Johnson (James), Wardell Marie, Derrick Butler, Rose M. Walston and Chester Walston. Additionally, she leaves behind 14 grandchildren and a multitude of cherished aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A funeral service to honor Rose's life will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 19, at St. John 2nd Baptist Church, Millsboro, with a viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will follow immediately at St. John 2nd Baptist Church Cemetery.

In the wake of Rose's passing, her legacy of hard work, love, and dedication will continue to inspire all fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in eternal peace.
