Rylie's River Ride to set sail July 22

Scenic tour down the Broadkill River sponsored by The Starboard
July 14, 2017

A scenic tour along the picturesque Broadkill River will take place from 6:30 to 9 p.m., Saturday, July 22, to benefit the nonprofit Rylie's Smile Foundation. All ages are invited to come celebrate the summer aboard the Cape Water Taxi and take a leisurely ride. Tickets are $30 a person. Seating is limited and the event has sold out in the past, so reserving seats early is recommended.

Rylie's Smile was started a few years ago by a 9-year-old Rehoboth Beach resident who was diagnosed with rare bone tumors of her face and palate. She wanted to bring awareness to others of other children who suffer from rare and terminal diseases and disorders, as well as provide items to help assist them in their frequent visits to the doctor.

Boarding begins at 6:30 p.m. at Fisherman's Wharf in Lewes. The tour will wind through the natural beauty of the Broadkill River, passing by nesting spots of birds and waterfowl as the cool sea breeze accompanies the setting sun. The river is home to osprey, great blue heron and many species of ducks and geese, so attendees should be sure to bring binoculars.

The event is sponsored by The Starboard, which will provide beverages for the evening's cruise. To drink alcohol aboard the boat, passengers must be 21 or older and have proper ID. For more information or to reserve tickets, call 302-226-5390, email rylie@ryliessmilefoundation.org or go to www.eventbrite.com and enter "Rylie's River Ride." Cash, check, and credit card are accepted.
