Seaman Joseph Hall, 1749-1832, was a pilot on the Delaware Bay and its tributaries. His Revolutionary War service is documented by the Delaware Assembly’s payment for three days work in May 1781 “Piloting flats up the Broadkill after corn ... and bringing down old creek.”
The Delaware Society Sons of the American Revolution Caesar Rodney Chapter held a Patriot Grave Marking Ceremony Nov. 4 at Lewes Presbyterian Cemetery. At the ceremony, five patriots were recognized for their service in the Revolutionary War.
Only one grave was marked, Seaman Joshua Hall from Lewes. The other patriots recognized and who received wreaths were Colonel David Hall, Doctor Matthew Wilson, Surgeon Joseph Hall, and Private Aaron Marshal.
