Schlosser has proven her capabilities to serve

August 11, 2017

I served as the deputy director for management, Office of Management and Budget, Executive Office of the President from October 2013 to July 2013, then as the acting director of the Office of Personnel Management from July 2015 to January 2017.

During that period, I had the opportunity and privilege to work closely with Lisa Schlosser. Lisa served as the deputy administrator, Office of E-Government and IT, as part of the OMB leadership team. She was a key leader in overseeing the $86 billion technology portfolio and projects across the entire federal government, which encompassed a broad range of activities from direct support to government customer service operations, financial and data reporting systems, technology operations, cybersecurity, etc.

When I was asked to go to OPM to resolve a highly visible cyber security issue in July 2015, I reached out to Lisa to serve with me as our acting chief information officer. Lisa immediately led a pragmatic set of actions to make major improvements in the technology department, address some long-term issues and position the department for stronger performance going forward.

From my role in leadership at OMB and OPM, Lisa was an outstanding collaborator and leader, respected for her courage in standing up for agency priorities, and her ability to deliver results in a highly complex environment. She was calm and pragmatic in her approach to managing federal IT initiatives, and was known for her common sense approach to solving problems.

She is a highly qualified, energetic, engaged leader to serve in your community as a commissioner, and I enthusiastically endorse her candidacy.
