Seaford High School musician George "Ged" Pearson to perform at Carnegie Hall

George "Ged" Pearson, a student at Seaford High School, has been selected for the 2018 High School Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall. He will perform clarinet B flat with the honors band Sunday, Feb. 4. Participation in one of the five honors ensembles is limited to the highest-rated high school performers from across the world.

Earlier this year, Pearson auditioned was accepted after a review by the Honors Selection Board. Acceptance to the elite group is a direct result of the talent, dedication and achievements demonstrated in his application and audition recording. He will join other exceptional high school musicians for a special performance at world-famous Carnegie Hall, a venue that marks the pinnacle of musical achievement.

"Being selected to the Honors Performance Series is something each finalist should be extremely proud of accomplishing. We processed more than 18,000 nominations this year and have selected nearly 700 of the most talented student performers from around the world. Working with these conductors and performing at Carnegie Hall is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that these musicians never forget," said Morgan Smith, program director.

Pearson has studied music for 11 years and is a member of Seaford High School Marching Band, Concert Band, Concert Chorus, and Gospel Choir, and Mt. Olivet Church Handbell Choir. He performed in the Delaware All State Bands during eighth, ninth and 10th grades. He has participated in Sussex County Honors Band in seventh through 10th grades. In February 2017, he participated in Delaware All State Chorus and played the lead role in Seaford High School's performance of "Seussical, the Musical." He currently serves as Seaford High School Marching Band drum major, King's Church pianist, and will be auditioning for All State Band, Chorus and County Band for 2018.

Pearson said, "I give thanks to God for giving me my talent, love, and passion for music, as well as allowing me to audition for this honors band. I am so excited to be selected for this position, and so glad that all of my hard work has paid off!"
