Sen. Tom Carper visits Avatar Instruments in Lewes

March 3, 2017

U.S. Sen. Thomas R. Carper visited the Lewes facility of Avatar Instruments Inc. Feb. 22. Avatar is a leading designer and manufacturer of SCR power controllers and systems used for a wide variety of applications by domestic and international clients.

The visit was what  Carper describes as a customer call, where the senator and his staff visit to talk about how the business is doing, how the senator is doing in serving his constituents, and how the senator's office might be helpful. The senator and staff also gain information about business needs and challenges in various industries that can be helpful for Senate team members in Washington.

The meeting with Avatar Instruments President Paul Evalds covered the operations, products, markets and challenges facing small manufacturing businesses, both in Delaware and the nation as a whole. Carper met with the entire staff at Avatar Instruments and spoke with all the employees. Topics included technical education and training, healthcare and their future plans.
