Sex trafficking article is shocking, sad

July 11, 2023

Regarding the article on the front page June 30: “Court: Pair profited from sex trade and boosting in our community.

The article speaks about the issue of sex trafficking right here in Sussex County. It was shocking and sad to read about how these victims were allegedly abused and used for profit. It was equally appalling to read that the perpetrator applied and it sounded like he was approved for a 501(c)3 tax-free certificate to provide low-income housing, which was allegedly housing for these victims. How crazy is that!

I would like to applaud those in authority who did their job well and helped to expose this atrocious situation. I pray they will continue to be diligent in doing what they can to free other victims and to stop other perpetrators. It takes a special person to do that job.

I think it was very interesting that the same week this article was released about the sex trafficking right here in our area, the movie “Sound of Freedom” was released in our local theaters. The movie is a true story of the rescue of a young girl and her brother by a very brave person who valued the life of a child. It is a movie that will raise your awareness of the magnitude of this issue in our world, our country and apparently even our neighborhood.

I would recommend everyone try to see the movie because it has been said that awareness precedes change.

Another great quote from John Stuart Mill is: “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”
