A new Social Security office will open at 9 a.m., Monday, April 15, at 17 Georgetown Plaza, off the corner Route 9 and DuPont Highway (Route 113), Georgetown.

Business operations at the Lewes Social Security office will end at noon, Friday, April 12, at 12001 Old Vine Blvd., off Route 9 in the Vineyards at Nassau Valley.

Social Security offices are also open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at 655 South Bay Road, Suite 3J, Dover; 920 West Basin Road, Wilmington; and 2414 Northgate Drive, Suite 1, Salisbury, Md.

Many Social Security services do not require the public to visit an office and may be completed online at ssa.gov or by dialing 1-800-772-1213. People who are deaf or hard of hearing may call Social Security’s TTY number, 1-800-325-0778.

People may create their personalized my Social Security online account at ssa.gov/myaccount. Those who already receive Social Security benefits can start or change direct deposit online, request a replacement SSA-1099, and to obtain proof of their benefits, print or download a current Benefit Verification Letter from their account.

People not yet receiving benefits can use their online account to get a personalized Social Security statement, which provides their earnings information as well as estimates of their future benefits. The portal also includes a retirement calculator and links to information about other online services.
