SOLA3 holds lake workshop for RES students

April 23, 2018

Save Our Lakes Alliance3 held a workshop April 19 for two fifth-grade classes at Rehoboth Elementary School to learn about the ecology and organisms of Silver Lake.

The workshop was directed by Todd Fritchman of Envirotech, shown speaking to students of teacher Jacquie Kisiel’s science class. The program aimed at educating the children about biodiversity and healthy ecosystems by using samples from Silver Lake. The students had to select living organisms from the sample and identify them. The objective was to give the students a better understanding of what makes a healthy lake and the impact people have on the lake.

This is the ninth year SOLA3 has provided the workshop. Students later uploaded their findings to the website for World Monitoring Day, an international education and outreach program dedicated to raising public awareness and protecting water resources around the world. RYAN MAVITY PHOTOS
