Stephanie Jean McCormick, true animal lover

Stephanie Jean (Cosentino) McCormick, 73, of Lewes, after a long courageous battle, went to rest in eternal peace Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016, in Baltimore, Md.

Stephanie was born in Baltimore, Oct. 6, 1943, to Joseph E. Cosentino and Mary R. (Hudak). She grew up in Baltimore City then moved to Ferndale, Md. She also resided in Laurel, Md., before moving to Lewes. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in Annapolis, Md., in 1961. She was employed by the Baltimore Sun and most recently The United States government at the Government Printing Office as an editor from 1974-2016.

She is survived by her son, William E. McCormick III and her granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth, both of Crofton, Md.; and her brother Joseph of Dundalk, Md. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary "JoAnne". She also leaves behind her niece, loving caregiver and friend Cindy Airey, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Stephanie loved her Scottish Terriers and her birds, as she was an animal lover to her core. She also enjoyed slot machines, poker and fun trips to the casinos in Delaware and Las Vegas. She also enjoyed traveling.

A Burial Mass will be officiated by Father William Spacek at Saint Francis Roman Catholic Church, in Clearfield, Pa., at a later date. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Clearfield.

Stephanie has made a request that in lieu of flowers, because of her love for animals, that donations be made to: Delaware Puppy Rescue, PO Box 4, Hockessin, DE 19707.
