Susan Elizabeth Francis, devoted to school board

Susan Elizabeth Francis, 66, of Dover and Bowie, Md., passed away, Friday, July 15, 2016, at her Dover home.
Susan was born Nov. 22, 1949, in Washington, D.C., to Charles Francis and the late Molly Francis.
She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education. Susan worked as executive director for the Delaware School Board Association for 17 years, retiring, February 2016. She was devoted to the school board, and spent many days and nights at Legislative Hall fighting for the Delaware school boards and school children. Susan was well respected in the school board community for her devotion.  She loved to garden, travel, going to the beach, as well as being an avid knitter and ferocious reader, especially of mysteries. Susan was a loving mother and grandmother, but her happiest times were when she was helping others and making family memories.
Susan was preceded in death by her mother in 2016 and brother Geoffrey in 1968.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Anderson; sons, Geoffrey Shupard and his wife Nichole of Lewes, DE, Malik Lopez and his wife Jennifer of Milton, DE; daughters, Tammy Brandt and her husband JB of Broadkill Beach, DE and Amy Shupard and her husband Chris Capriotti of Rehoboth Beach DE; stepchildren, Richard Anderson and his wife Shelia of Woodbury, MN, Rebecca Holmstrom  and her husband Eric of Duluth, MN, Christina Anderson-Mooney and her husband Brian of Santa Rosa, CA; brothers, James Francis and his wife Truth Ann of Reisterstown, MD, Christopher Francis and his wife Mia and Richard Francis and his wife Nancy all of Ellicott City, MD; sister, Betsy Francis and her husband Martin of Grasonville, MD; grandchildren, Jack and Nicholas Brandt; Tahj Lopez, Emily and Katie Anderson, Anya and Andrew Holmstrom and Dylan Mooney, numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. 
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to The Suitland High School Band Fund, her alma-mater.
