Sussex Academy directors recognize Carroll Moshier

March 26, 2017

Sussex Academy Directors Patricia Oliphant and Allen Stafford recognized Sussex Academy grandparent Carroll Moshier for her dedication to the school's library/information commons.

In 2015, when the construction was completed and the doors opened, the library/information commons had empty shelves. Upon seeing that the school needed books, Moshier immediately started to make purchases and recruited others to do the same. She also worked to cover books, and to have all of the new books registered in the online library catalog.

"We are very appreciative of all of the time, effort and financial support that Mrs. Moshier has provided to Sussex Academy. Today, not only are our library/information commons shelves filled with the books that our students need, but we have also added libraries to a few of our classrooms," said Oliphant.

Moshier has also supported the Sussex Academy Foundation Capital Campaign and all Sussex Academy fundraising events. She has two grandchildren who are Sussex Academy students. Mia Moshier is a senior and Ross Moshier is a sophomore.

Sussex Academy is a public charter, tuition-free school in Georgetown. Serving sixth through 12th grades, the school practices a project-based learning approach, and all 11th- and 12th-grade students participate in the International Baccalaureate program.
