Sussex Academy earns Blue Ribbon School Award
U.S. Department of Education Secretary John B. King, announced that Sussex Academy was one of five Delaware schools to be named a National Blue Ribbon School for 2016.
“We are proud to have earned this prestigious award,” said Dr. Patricia Oliphant, director of curriculum and instruction. “It honors all of the hard work from both our faculty and students.” Each year schools are nominated by their state department of education to apply for the award. Upon notification of the nomination the school completes and submits a comprehensive application about school practices. Sussex Academy was nominated for and won for the status of being an exemplary high performing school.
Sussex Academy is a tuition-free, public, charter school in Georgetown, serving sixth through 12th grades 6-12. The school practices a project based learning approach and all 11th and 12th students will be enrolled in the International Baccalaureate program.
