The Sussex Central Pop Warner Pee Wee squad outlasted Woodbridge 14-6 Nov. 19 at Legends Stadium in Lewes to win the Henlopen Pop Warner Junior Pee Wee Championship. It is the first title for the Georgetown-based team.
The Golden Knights scored first on a long run by Tim Scott. The extra point by Bren Scott was good. The half ended with the Knights leading 7-0.
There wasn’t any scoring in the third quarter, but Sussex Central struck first in the fourth quarter on a dive play from Tim Scott. Bren Scott kicked to convert the extra point.
The Woodbridge defense held the Knights scoreless twice within the 10-yard line during the contest.
Woodbridge got on the scoreboard with six minutes left to make it 14-6 on a dive by quarterback Dreden Lake. The extra point was no good and the Golden Knights ran out the clock to win the Pop Warner Junior Pee Wee Championship.
