Three men arrested on drug charges

The Sussex County Drug Unit has arrested three men after executing a search warrant on a residence in Dagsboro.

Four months ago, detectives from the Sussex County Drug Unit began investigating a home on the 28000 block of East Diamond Drive after receiving information that drugs were being sold from that area. Detectives attempted to execute a search warrant June 1. As detectives approached the property, they saw a black Chevrolet Tahoe driving away from the house. Troopers from the Sussex County Governor’s Task Force attempted to stop the Tahoe, but it continued driving away from the area. Troopers stopped the car on Bunting Road and took the driver, identified as Clarence Mobley, 34, of Millsboro into custody. Troopers searched Mobley and found 25.13 grams of crack cocaine and 195 baggies containing 1.365 grams of suspected heroin in his possession.

Detectives at the residence found Wilbert Perkins, 41, of Dagsboro standing in the driveway. Perkins did not comply with troopers’ commands, as he tried to walk away and empty his pockets. Perkins was taken into custody and found to be in possession of 10.28 grams of crack cocaine and 117 baggies containing approximately 0.819 grams of suspected heroin.

Detectives found Devontay Jones, 28, of Dagsboro in the backyard. Jones also did not comply with troopers’ commands, as he tried to empty his pockets and leave the scene. Jones was taken into custody and discovered to be in possession of 4.07 grams of crack cocaine and 115 baggies containing 0.805 grams of suspected heroin. Detectives also searched the property and found two shotguns that Jones had access to. Jones is a convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms.

Mobley was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance in a Tier 3 quantity, possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 3 quantity, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 1 quantity, resisting arrest and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $107,200 cash bond.

Perkins was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance in a Tier 2 quantity, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, resisting arrest and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $21,400 secured bond.

Jones was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, two counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, resisting arrest and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Jones was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $81,200 cash bond.
