UK artist to lead Big Draw Fest activity in Milford Oct. 7

Pat Southern-Pearce will also present MAL workshops Oct. 14-15
September 30, 2023

Mispillion Art League’s Big Draw Festival is set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 7, when attendees can enjoy free, family-friendly art activities on Park Avenue in downtown Milford. This event is a way for the community to gather and engage the senses of touch, sight, sound, taste and smell while creating art.

Internationally renowned guest artist Pat Southern-Pearce from the United Kingdom will be on hand to guide Big Draw participants in a blind portrait drawing with mirrors activity. Blind drawing, looking at one’s own face in a mirror but never at the page while drawing, is like magic. Participants will have their own mini-me masterpiece to take home. Attendees can also enjoy sandcastle building, ink blot art, mosaics, pumpkin painting, making edible art, creating buttons, stamp art, drawing with chalk on the sidewalks and more.

Southern-Pearce will also be running a weekend workshop focusing on Trees, Shrubberies and Skies, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 14 and 15, at Mispillion Art League. The fee is $325 for MAL members and $345 for nonmembers. Class size is limited to 20 and only a few spots remain, so registering soon is encouraged.
