UUSD to screen ‘Streetlight Harmonies’ Feb. 24

February 16, 2024

UUSD Cares and the 25th Anniversary Committee will host a free potluck dinner at 6 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 24, followed by a movie screening of “Streetlight Harmonies” starting at 7 p.m., at Unitarian Universalists of Southern Delaware, 30486 Lewes Georgetown Highway, Lewes.

The movie is about youthful street corner groups of singers in the ‘50s and ‘60s. Included are many groups that went on to record their music and lay a foundation of harmony for generations to come. Anyone who loves doo-wop music will not want to miss this evening. Special guest Lois Powell is an original member of the Chantels, one of the first major girl groups in American pop music to gain nationwide acclaim. The Chantels were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2002.

All guests must register for the meal and movie, or movie only by emailing uusdcares@uussd.org. There is a limit of 100 participants for each event, the free potluck meal at 6 p.m. and the movie only at 7 p.m. For more information, email uusdcares@uussd.org or go to uussd.org.
