VIDA Multicultural Screening and Health Fair set April 22

April 8, 2017

The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition has announced the next ¡VIDA! Multicultural Screening and Health Fair will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, April 22, at the Milford Community Center. This free trilingual program will offer health screenings, information about healthy living, community programs, free clothing, and lunch and additional resources to the public. The program is made possible by support from Bayhealth, the Milford Multicultural Church and Community Center, Perdue, The Carpenter Foundation, The Chichester duPont Foundation, Highmark Delaware and the National Association of Hispanic Nurses.

¡VIDA! is a multicultural event focused on breast cancer screening, treatment and survivorship. It began in 2011 as a bilingual (Spanish/English) educational event that has grown to include all backgrounds and ethnicities, and offers programs to women, men, and children. The Milford forum will feature clinical breast exams on-site and additional health screenings such as glucose, cholesterol and blood pressure. Lunch will be provided, along with free clothing giveaways. Families are welcome.

Migdalia Garduno, bilingual outreach and screening coordinator, said, "The April 22 ¡VIDA! in Milford is vitally important to members of our community. These free medical tests can be lifesaving to someone who is never or rarely screened. We will have volunteers on site to help translate medical results in Spanish and Creole."

The Milford Community Center is at 105 NE Front St. in Milford. For more information, contact Migdalia Garduno at 302-778-1102, Ext. 1016.
