I am guessing a lot of you do not notice the seven-word phrase on the front page of the newspaper you are reading. It reads, “The price of liberty is eternal vigilance,” which is almost the same as the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association motto: “Eternal vigilance is the price of peace - remember Pearl Harbor - keep America alert.” I made a promise to my longtime friend and neighbor Augie Giusti (who was on the battleship U.S.S. West Virginia on Dec. 7, 1941, when it was hit by seven torpedoes and sank) that the story of that day would be remembered. Whether our country’s enemies come in bombers or as hackers, the words on the Cape Gazette and the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association are still very relevant ... lest we forget.
