Vote for Clean Sweep candidates in Dewey

September 15, 2017

To all Dewey Beach property owners:

Many of you received an email blast from Amy Levy saying Vote for Good Government Not Big Business. It should be noted that Levy is a close personal friend of Diane Hanson and that Marc Appelbaum, at Hanson's request, hired Levy's daughter to work for him for the last two years. She is not unbiased.

Do we have good government? I think not. Diane Hanson continually puts out false statements, has misled the public on numerous occasions and has flat-out lied to some of the commissioners on several occasions.

• She told commissioner Riordan that no charges were filed against Appelbaum regarding the car accident in the incident in New Orleans. False.

• She reported in the press and misled the public that the claimants had dropped all charges against Appelbaum. False.

• She told commissioners Riordan, Mauler and Legates that there were no issues reported to her in the exit interview with Katrina White. False.

There are too many more to list here. Hanson and Cooke have known about contracts being awarded in violation of our charter, having no oversight to our budget so Appelbaum has full charge over it with no one holding him accountable, and they continually manipulate agendas in violation of FOIA (Freedom of Information). Good government is transparent, and not having everything done so the public can't see.

As far as the claim of big business supporting the new very qualified candidates goes, I think they too are tired of being targeted by Appelbaum. Appelbaum targets people he doesn't like.

I was threatened with lawsuits by Appelbaum while mayor, had my business licenses improperly withheld a month after paying for them, causing a loss of income, had my name falsely added to a disorderly house list and have had vehicles illegally ticketed in front of my property.

Several other property owners also had their business licenses illegally withheld and have been harassed to where there is now a federal lawsuit against the town due to actions directly relating to Appelbaum.

Calls to the commissioners went unanswered.

It is time for change. Vote for Clean Sweep candidates Paul Bauer, Jill Compello, and TJ (John) Redefer.
